Many of the cities where I lived in Brazil had cobblestone streets/sidewalks. This was a smoother cobblestone sidewalk, and it was beautiful. However, that is not why this is one of my favorite pictures. Allow me to explain.
I tend to be a bit clumsy - my Grandma tells me that I came by this naturally. One day while my companion and I were walking down the street we were talking, so I was not watching where I was going. I stepped in a large hole (the one at the bottom of the picture) where a piece of cobblestone was missing, and stumbled. I didn't fall, but looked backwards to see what it was I had tripped in. While looking backwards I stepped in the second hole (the much smaller one) and fell all the way down. My companion was worried about me, but I couldn't stop laughing long enough to tell her that I was fine.
As we walked away we talked about how this is similar to life. You can't dwell on things in the past, or the smallest things ahead of you can trip you up. I had to go back and take a picture to remind myself of this. It's like my high school English told me: "Looking backwards while trying to move forward just makes you fall". A powerful life lesson.

hahahahahah that's funny! I love my Katie Bug!
I was thinking that sometimes it isn't the big problems in life that do us in, but the little ones!
I'm so glad you went back and took a picture! What a fun way to document a life lesson learned. :)
That is so neat, what a great lesson!
