We are in Spain, and we are loving it! We arrived this morning after what was the most uneventful flights I have ever dealt with! We landed in Madrid, picked up our car (an incredibly cool car whose mirrors flip in when you turn it off) and headed for Toledo.
The best word I can find to describe Toledo is 'Magical". It is a very large, walled city that reminds me of where Minnie Driver lives in Italy in the movie "Return to Me". The streets are barely wide enough to allow a car through (if we make it home with all our toes it will be a miracle!) and are lined by picturesque apartment buildings, and tiny shops.
We spent the day wandering, and enjoying the magical quality of the city. We ate ice cream (which was wonderful) while enjoying a view that was even more wonderful!
There are A LOT of statues in Spain, and they are very European (aka, naked).
More details about the city to come tomorrow! I am headed to bed with hopes of avoiding jet lag!

We wish you were here. We could really use your Spanish Speaking Skills. While I manage to read Spanish quite well, and understand it passably, speaking isn't going so well. We wish you were here to help us order food - which can be a pretty interesting experience! We have managed it twice, and enjoyed true Spanish cuisine both times! Tonight, in your honor, we ordered Flan for dessert (we know how much you love it). Oh, it was heavenly! I think that we love you so much we will go back tomorrow and have some more!

P.S. The above mentioned Flan got me my first Spanish kiss today!!! The owner of the restaurant seemed entertained by the fact that I was taking pictures. He laughed, gave me a hug, then kissed my forehead :) Funny stuff!
P.P.S. Turns out it wasn't even Flan. My flawed Spanish ordered us a delicious desert that I haven't got a clue what it is! Not only that, but it took my jet-lagged brain till the next morning to figure out what we had eaten was NOT flan! It was, however, a happy mistake!

Oh boy... getting kissed already. I'm not so sure my sister in law will be coming home from this trip alone. How can I make my stamp of approval if I can't meet him though??? Glad you are having fun. We miss you!

That's so fun! I went to Toledo a few years ago while I was in Spain with my brother, and that was by far one of my favorite cities in Europe! I'm jealous! Have fun, I'm excited to see the rest of your pictures!
i'm so jealous. i should have come with you. i don't know if you know this, but i speak spanish! and i know an extensive knowledge about the history of spain...hey, i got an a- in the class. i hope have a wonderful time there. i tried to call you yesterday because i couldn't remember when you left. hahaha. adios!
