First a Spanish kiss . . . then this!

(The set-up/lighting of this room made it virtually impossible to get any good pictures, so these will have to do!)

Who is that dancing with a Spanish hottie? Oh, that would be me!

We decided that before we left Spain we needed to go to a flamenco dinner & dance show. We signed up for one close by, and went last night. Flamenco is the Spanish dance with lots of clapping/stomping/tapping & ruffly-skirts. It is intense and beautiful!

I have never been to a dinner like this one. The dinner itself took about two hours from start to finish. It began with bread, then soup, then the main course, then dessert. They gave you lots, and lots, and lots of time to eat. After we were done eating the show started.

Three people came out for the presentation – a beautiful woman wearing a ruffled dress, a good looking guy dressed like Zorro (or a pirate), and a drummer. The drummer played while the other to danced. It was mesmerizing!

Towards the end of the show the woman pulled a man up from the crown and had him dance with her. He did well and it was extremely entertaining!

Next, Zorro began to scour the audience looking for his victim. I felt safe, I tend to blend in quite well and never get picked for these things. If I had only known! Before I knew it he was pulling me onto the stage. Of all the people in the audience he had to pick me, the completely uncoordinated girl from Utah who speaks almost NO Spanish! To make matters worse I was wearing jeans and tennis shoes not your ideal outfit for the Flamenco!

I am sure the look on my face was priceless. I don’t think it is physically possible to turn a brighter shade of red than I was at that moment.

I haven’t danced in years, and even when I did I wasn’t all that great. Like I said, my coordinating just isn’t the best! And especially for this kind of dance! I feebly attempted to follow his directions – resulting in much laughter from both me and the audience!

Thankfully, the song ended and he led me (still red faced!) back to the table amid the laughter of my family. I don’t think they stopped laughing for the rest of the night!

While it was a fun experience, it is not one that I hope to repeat in the near future!

AAAAAAAAAAAh ahahahahaha oh ok that just really made my day. Gee I can't believe we had to miss that! And Katie, I don't think that your red hair blends you in most places you go- that is usually what draws people to you. :)
