A Slight Mix Up

Yesterday we went on our first field trip. My students have been talking about it for weeks now, and could hardly wait to go. First we went ice skating, then we ate lunch and went through the zoo before having a short presentation on the different categories of animals. While we were in the zoo my students could hardly wait to see the cobra. It was the most anticipated moment of the day. They all stood huddled around the cage, trying to catch a glimpse. That is when I heard this conversation:

Boy: I see it! I SEE IT!
Other Students: Where? Where?
Boy: Right there! (Pointing)
Other students: I can't see it!
Boy: It's there - Oh wait, it's a bird.

He was totally serious! I am not sure how you get a bird and a snake mixed up, but I don't see the world through six-year-old eyes anymore!

After that I saw a sign explaining that the cobra was not on display at the moment. Just our luck!

That sounds like a fantastic field trip. Maybe that's what I should do this weekend... :)

LOL! Wow - your students are great. Thanks for all the good laughs. Glad your field trip was a big hit. I want to go on one! :P I'm having a hard time thinking of a good "math" field trip though....
