Remember how I did a whole post on how much I love rain? I do, or at least I usually do. But some days I am not so fond of it. Like yesterday, for example. My friend Heidi and I were planning a hike. I was very excited. This was the third time that I had planned to go hiking this month, but each time it had rained.
Yesterday morning was perfect for hiking - not to hot, a gentle breeze, and slightly overcast. I picked up Heidi, and as we headed up the canyon the clouds became thicker. We started our hike, and five minutes later it started to rain. We took shelter under a tree to wait it out, thinking it would leave quickly. It didn't. It started raining harder. Then it started to hail. When we heard thunder approaching we ran back to the car. Such a disappointment. This is what I look like on days when I don't love the rain:

Yet the five minutes we were hiking was plenty of time for the mosquito to begin attacking poor Heidi! Sorry, friend. You must smell good. We ended up watching The Tale of Despereaux instead of hiking. Still fun, and a good movie, but I am ready for a hike!
On a happier note - I am getting a new NIECE in October. I am so excited! I love Nieces!

I'm so sorry you didn't get to hike again :( that's disapointing. But I'm glad you got to have fun with a friend anyway.
I have loved the cooler weather, but it doesn't make for outdoor fun. Good luck getting in your hike! (I, too, am excited for a little girl!)
Sorry you didn't get to hike. Bummer. Colby and I keep trying to go camping with my brother and his wife....but every weekend is rainy. :(
