never again!

I have never been a huge candy fan (give me chocolate!) but growing up, when choosing a candy it would usually be a sour variety. Sour Patch Kids, War Heads and Shock Tarts were my favorites. When skittles created their sour candy I was thrilled. I thought they were great!

Then I grew up. It turned out that once the days of riding my bike to the nearest gas station were over, I didn't buy nearly as much candy. Since returning from Brazil I don't think I have eaten any. Until today.

A friend gave me a pack of Sour Skittles which I ate (and loved). That is, I loved it until an hour later when my tongue was in pain and the roof of my mouth covered in cankers. Uck. I spent the afternoon sucking on ice trying to make it better.

What happened? I don't remember sour candies having the effect on my when I was younger! Is this why adults generally don't like sour candies? All I know is that for as much as I enjoy eating them, the pain is NOT worth it!

That is so crazy. I have no idea why they would hurt you know and didn't when you were younger... I guess somethings just change over time huh.

I haven't been able to eat more than a couple of sour patch kids at a time in fifteen years. Makes my tongue swell up. But, like you, I loved all the sour stuff when I was younger. Is there something about adulthood that makes yummy sour candy a no-no? Odds fish, my dear...

LOL! You're TOO cute! Sorry that your sour skittles were a painful experience....it happens to me too. One word for you....moderation. Don't eat so many at once! :P
