One Last Hoorah

My summer has officially ended. As of next week it is back to school (I have already been back for several weeks, but now I am required to be back) When the chance to go to Island Park, Idaho with my old ward came up, I jumped at the chance! One last hoorah to end the summer. One last chance to get away and enjoy the open air. There were lots of fun things.

There was squeezing 12 girls into one tent. There was lots of talking before going to sleep!

There was lots of boating:

There was a chance to learn how to wakeboard. Having never tried it (or even water skiing for that matter) I was a bit nervous.

There was some of this:

And some of this (along with ingesting copious amounts of murky water):

Before finally accomplishing this:

It was wonderful! The feeling of gliding over the water rocked. I enjoyed it for a while, then called it a day when my shivering no longer allowed me to be in the water. Wakeboarding is something I could definitely get used to!

That night I was helping get ready for dinner. I grabbed some dishes and headed out to the spigot to wash them. As I crossed the street I noticed that the spigot was already occupied:

I quickly (and quietly) returned to camp. I don't care how friendly a bear looks, twenty feet is not enough space between me and an uncaged bear!

There was also lots of reading (only two-more days! exciting!)

And enjoying the floating docks. They were heavenly!

My friend Abby and I named this dock the M&M dock and enjoyed lots of time there.

The last night we grabbed blankets and headed down to the dock to star gaze. The sound of the water, and the reflection of the moon made for the ideal last night of summer.

It was not only my last hoorah for the summer, but also with my ward. Since I have moved I am now going to a new ward. I am sure that I will love it, and have many great adventures, but it does hurt my heart to leave this ward. This trip was a great way to end my summer, and say good-bye to a wonderful ward.

Your wake boarding pictures are most impressive! Looks like the whole trip was lots of fun, bears and sleeping like sardines included. :) What a great last hoorah with your fun old ward. :)

What a great send off to summer! As to your question- I still get nervous and anxious before school starts. You just never know what kind of class you will inherit!

I'm still offended you didn't come visit me. :( Just kidding. I am glad you had fun though. Looks like a wonderful trip. If only I could have come with you.

I didn't realize you would be in a different ward. :( I'm sure the new one will be great too! I'm glad you got one last fun trip. And way to go wakeboarding! Hope the first week of school goes/is going well!
