Lions & Tigers & Carousel's, Oh My!

This weekend we went up to Idaho to visit Karl & Liz, and celebrate Maddie's birthday. We got there on Thursday night, so we had all of Friday to play. We spent the morning at the Idaho Falls Temple (Gorgeous!) and the afternoon at the Tautphaus Zoo. I was expecting a very small zoo with a few fun animals. I was NOT expecting a really cool zoo with all sorts of animals!

We saw Penguins, flamingos, zebras, lions, tigers, "tootles" (turtles) monkeys, snakes, camels, etc. It was SO much fun!

We were all super impressed

The lions were very majestic

Brooklyn was a complete angel all day!

Maddie had lots of fun with my camera. Not bad for a three year old!

Maddie has some fraidy-cat tenancies, and it came out this weekend! This was what she looked like the entire time the monkey's were swinging around. It was hilarious!

After the zoo we went next door and rode a carousel. Maddie had been talking about the horses all day. However, as soon as we got there she freaked out a little bit. We finally got her on a horse by having Eric standing on one side, holding her on, and I rode the horse next to her and held her hand. It was hard to get pictures, but in the end she really did love it!

Later, we met up with Lacey, Steve & Ivy at Famous Dave's. The little girls were THRILLED to see each other!

As we waited for a table, a giant pig came to say hello. Ivy was mesmerized and spent much of the night following him around. Maddie was terrified and jumped into the arms of anyone standing close anytime the pig walked by. It was hilarious!

I had never been to Famous Dave's before, but any restaurant that has a roll of paper towels on the table, anticipating extremely messy fingers is my kind of place!

The food is served family style (on a garbage can lid) and is insanely delicious. I am a fan!

The next day we had a birthday party for miss Maddie.

She has been so excited to turn three. She had a great time opening all her presents.

Lacey and I made Maddie a make-up kit by cleaning out old make-up cases and filling them with fingernail polish. After several days of drying they became perfect play make-up. The little girls loved them! Thanks for the idea, HSF!

Maddie's favorite foods are Pizza, and green salad, so a pizza buffet was a perfect place to celebrate her birthday. It was fun, and delicious. They had a dessert pizza with chocolate and caramel, and was seriously delicious.

It was such a fun weekend! Happy Birthday, Maddie!

The make-up turned out so cute! I hope Maddie likes it. I've never been to Famous Dave's but there's one close to my house. The paper towel thing cracks me up.

It really was such a fun weekend, and a great way to celebrate Maddie's impending birthday. The make-up kit turned out awesome, and thanks for finding just the right items to turn it into a full out beauty bag. :) I only wish we could have been there with you to join in on the fun at the zoo and the temple. :)
