Spring Break in Seattle - Part Two

Wednesday Suzette had meetings she needed to be at, so she dropped me off at the outlet malls near her home, and I spent hours shopping. Rough life, huh? ;-) It was so fun, and I found some great deals! I got new jeans (that fit! WOOHOO!), shoes, a few shirts, earrings, a new wallet and some delicious chocolate truffles from a candy store. The one on the right was a spicy chocolate truffle, and it was quite divine!

Thursday started out at the Ballard Locks in Seattle. They were super cool!

First, boats come in from the ocean, then they close the locks,

And start to raise the water level,

until the boats are ready to sail off into the fresh water. And the coolest part? It is all done with the power of GRAVITY! No electricity needed. Yes, I might be a dork, but I think that is so cool!

Then we headed off to the Woodland Park Zoo.

It is such a fun zoo! Lots of really cool animals

And Suzette's kids are SMART! They know their animals!

Plus they are stinkin' cute.

Friday morning Suzette made me a family specialty - french toast & tomato soup.
It sounds odd.
But it is SO good.
It may have been a highlight of the trip.
They make homemade tomato soup, so I don't think I could replicate this with my canned Campbell's.

Then they took me to the airport for my flight home.

I got to see Mt. Rainier from the plane. BEAUTIFUL!

Karl, Liz & their darling girls picked me up at the airport and drove me home. Love my nieces!

To sum it up, it was a perfect spring break! Thanks Suzette for letting me come!

I have to say the french toast thing... doesn't sound too appetizing to me. Of course I don't ever like tomato soup but still... :) Glad you had such a wonderful time.

That looks like such a fun adventure! It totally makes me want to go play the tourist in Seattle. What a fantastic spring break! Glad you got to go. :) I saw the tomato soup French toast on Suzette's blog, and I thought it was... interesting looking. I'd try it with homemade tomato soup but I won't be attempting it myself any time soon...
