indecisive

It seems like the time has come for me to grow up. Scary, I know! I graduate in less than two months, which means that it is time for the job search to start. This is not the greatest time to be looking for a job, but you do what you can! On Monday it all began with interviews from four districts. But before I tell you about the interviews, I have to explain how my inability to make decisions has complicated the last few weeks.

I knew my resume needed to look nice, so I went to the store to pick out some resume paper. This should be an easy choice, but for me it was torture! I stood in front of the resume paper section for a good 20 minutes. There were so many colors to choose from! I really liked the pink (a very soft and subtle pink) but I didn’t dare do that! (thank you, Legally Blonde!) I finally whittled it down to three choices: Granite, Ivory, and Almond. I called my dad and asked his opinion. I called my sister and asked her opinion. In the end I decided on the Almond and ran to check out before I could change my mind. I have to say, I am extremely happy with the way that it makes my resume look!

Then there was the decision of a suit. Apparently, you need a suit to look professional. So I spent days searching in lots of different stores to find a suit that I liked, looked good in, and could afford. Not so easy to find. I seriously searched forever. I tried on every suit I could find. I had finally given up on my search and had decided to just buy a mediocre blazer instead. On my way to the checkout counter I walked through the petite section and saw a suit. It was cute. And cheap. And they had it in my size. I tried it on and it fit perfectly. Not a single alteration needed. Word to the wise, if you are short, shop for a suit in the petite section.

I won’t go into details about buying shoes to go with my suit. It also required numerous calls to my sister and several picture texts.

So finally, I was ready. I had my power suit, classy shoes, my resume, and a fun bag to carry my stuff in (thanks, Lace!) I also had a nasty sinus infection and a fear of hanging boogers distracting the interviewer while I tried to impress him/her with my teaching qualifications. I was as ready as I could have been.

The interviews went better than I had expected. There was a point when I forgot the question halfway through my response. Hmmmm. But that only happened once. (don’t judge me! It was a very long question!) I learned a lot about what I am looking for in a school district and insurance policies. It made me very excited to start my career as a teacher. And as far as I know, there were no hanging booger incidents.

The next few months are going to be full of interviews. Part of it is exciting. And part of it scares me really bad. How does a person as indecisive as I am make such big decisions? You will just have to stick around to find out.

Oh you are so cute. I love you so much! And once again, I am noticing that we are much more alike than we may think! I am incredibly indecisive as well. But even so, I am deciding that next week we will get together. And I am deciding that Thursday is a good day for me, how about you? Let me know... !

Niiiice! You look so polished in your new suit. I didn't realize your hair was getting so long. Good luck finding a job. I hope it all goes well.

Even though you're indecisive (as am I), look how great all of your decisions have turned out so far. Fabulous suit, great resume, etc. And I have no doubt that your decision about where to work will be equally wonderful. It may take the same kind of process, but it will be great in the end. :)

Wow! I'm super scared too! I might be able to get a spot at the school where I'm student teaching - but I'm so terrified to do interviews and stuff. But- hey - at least you've started!!! By the way - you do look super nice in the new outfit. :)
