The last week and a half have been MUCH better than the week before, though very, very busy! We are leaving on vacation next week, so I have been busy getting a weeks worth of substitute plans ready (and I am almost there!) On top of that, last week was crazy!
Last Wednesday was our 100th day of school. We spent the entire day doing activities that had to do with the number 100. We counted to 100 by 1's, 2's, 5's, and 10's. We took 100 baby steps. We took 100 giant steps. We hopped around the classroom 100 times (UG!!) We read 100 words. Several students told me it was "The best day ever!!!"
My favorite part of the day is when they draw a picture of what they will look like at 100, and when they write what they would do with $100. Here are some of my favorites:
Of course the student's favorite part of the day is usually the fruit loop necklaces with 100 fruit loops on it. The turned out fabulous! (tip: when doing these use ribbon, not yarn. It makes life so much better!)

"If I had $100 I would udoped 100 hamzters. I love hamsters becase long hared hasters are vary flufy."
"If I had $100 I would give it all to the church. Then I wuld get 100 blesings."
"If I had $100 I would by a jet. Then I would fly evrywhere. And I would fly to alasku to visit my cuzin. And by a candee bar."Of course the student's favorite part of the day is usually the fruit loop necklaces with 100 fruit loops on it. The turned out fabulous! The day was fabulous & fun, though EXHAUSTING! I went home and crashed!
On Friday we had a pirate party that the class had earned by reading so much and earning TONS of reading points in January. We went on a scavenger hunt that led us to a map, and then the map led us to the treasure - ice cream sundae's! They looked so cute running around in their pirate patches, I wish I could put up pictures! This day quickly took over the coveted spot of "BEST DAY EVER!" Two Best Day's Ever in a week! Quite successful if I do say so myself!
Every February I have my students do their first book report. They are always very excited about it (another reason I teach 1st grade!) I make a deal with them that since they have to do a book report, I have to do one too. I read the book The Great Cheese Conspiracy, which was hilarious! When all of the book reports are in I put them together to make our February bulletin board:

Those two best days ever sound like so much fun! Kind of makes me miss being little and getting to go to school and have such fun teachers (whom I now realize put in MUCH effort to make our grand adventures possible!). :)
