This picture has nothing to do with this post, but I took a picture a while back, and it has sat on my camera ever since. It made me laugh like crazy! So, it might as well go on this post! I can even make it work - summer has some GREAT smells! Flowers, hiking (LOTS of smells I love while hiking), freshly cut grass, barbeques, etc. :-)
People ask my all the time what I am going to do with three whole months off from work. Here are my plans:
- Tutoring. I am working as a reading tutor for two kids in a family. I spend two hours a day there, one hour with each child. It is perfect because it gets me up and going, provides some fun money, but is a short enough amount of time that I still feel like I am taking a break from working.
- Cleaning. My goal is to really deep clean my house from top to bottom. I figure if I do this each summer I can keep it decently clean through the school year when it seems to get neglected.
- Running. I want to run a 1/2 marathon this fall. The idea both thrills and terrifies me. I am at four miles right now. I have a long way to go!
- Reading. During the school year I fall out of the habit of reading since I don't have a lot of extra time. This summer I want to read a book a week. Any suggestions?
- Hiking. One of my all time favorite things. And lots of opportunities to hike around here in the summer!
- Relaxing. Yep, gotta do some of that.
- Volunteering. I am spending all next week volunteering at a camp. I am very excited to get away and enjoy the great outdoors.
- Decorating. I really want to get my kitchen and my bedroom decorated. I've lived there a year, and still have nothing on the walls. I wish I had more of an eye for decorating!
- Trips! Yellowstone with my family, Salt Lake to visit Karl & Liz and friends, Provo for a literary conference and Education Week, Wyoming to visit Paula, YAY!
- Working. The whole "Summers Off" thing is a myth. Yes, there is more free time, but I will need to start spending time in my classroom as soon as they get the carpet put in to begin getting ready for next year. I don't mind, though. In all honesty, I already miss it!

Okay, I have been reading like crazy lately... so I do have suggestions. I just finished reading the "shadow children" series. By margaret peterson Haddix. Short and easy read books. The first one is called "among the hidden". And then I read "claim to fame" by the same author, next on my list is the maze runner. You should check them out...
My summer plans are about the same as yours actually... only I have really been lazy lately and have stopped running.... ooooops.
Sounds like lots of fun stuff! My summer plans....
Class #1
Class #2
Class #3
Hopefully working 8-10 hours a week - but for some reason I keep getting the "oh yes you still have a job but we don't have anything for you to do yet" speech
Make my yard and house pretty
Try to get some relaxing done in there somewhere :P
Oh hey - when you come down to Salt Lake I'd LOVE to see you! Even if we just go get ice cream or something....
I just got done reading Tiger Curse by Collen Houck and then the second one but can't remember the second one name. They are really really good. I couldn't put them down. She is in the process of writing 3 4 & 5 right now. Number 3 comes out in November. I definitely recommend reading them.
As far as summer plans we are still in the process of job hunting. Maybe Microsoft maybe Lite house salad dressing here in Sandpoint. So we will see. And I am planning on coming to Utah at the end of July beginning of August.
