Today I ran my first 5K of the year. It was in honor of a fallen soldier who died a few months ago. It was a beautiful race. His wife was there and shot the gun to start the race, and also ran. The entire 3.1 mile stretch was lined with American flags. You couldn't help but feel patriotic as you ran.
If it hadn't been for such a good cause I probably wouldn't have run this race. I have gotten out of shape this winter. My training during student teaching has been nonexistent. However, I did finish, and didn't walk at all, which was my goal! My time was 28:30, which is pretty normal for me. The difference is that I REALLY felt this one. (I also forgot to put on sunblock, and am quite pink at the moment :)
It really was a great race with a very inspirational feeling about it. I am glad I got to participate!

I didn't know you were running a race today! You didn't tell me... tisk tisk tisk. But good job.
I really wanted to participate in this run and am sad I had to miss it. I'm glad that you did it and had a good experience. And I got sunburned yesterday too, so we can be pretty in pink together. :)
Sounds like a really neat experience!
Katie, I should have run this with you. It sounds like it was so great and inspirational. I suck. :( But we still need to get together soon with Janalee for dinner. What is your schedule like next week?
What a cool thing to do. I would love to run a race. My training has been nonexistent for years@
Hey - I'm still in awe that you run marathons at all! Way to be!
