MEMORIES

I have always had pretty good memory, especially when it came to random details. But lately I feel like my memory has been failing me. Let me present you will three examples.

#1 – A few weeks ago I was looking through the contact list on my phone when I came across the name Amanda (name has been changed). I looked at the name, looked at the number, and wondered who on earth Amanda was. Sure, I know a few Amanda’s, but not well enough to have their number in my phone. For days I couldn’t figure out who Amanda was. Finally, after many days of pondering I figured out who she is and why I have her number. It is still there, because quite frankly it should be and I haven’t got a clue why I didn’t remember her.

#2 – One Sunday I got a text message announcing that the sender was engaged. I had no idea who the sender was. I called a friend to see if she had gotten the same text. She hadn’t. Usually I would just let this slide by, but this time I couldn’t. So I sent a reply: “Congratulations! Who is this?”. A short time later came a reply. It was my friend Kayleen. (By the way, Kayleen, I am super excited for you!)

#3 – On Saturday I was walking through Wal-mart. It was pretty late, and my contacts get kind of fuzzy as the night goes on. I was walking up and down the isles when a blond woman started waving at me. I was wondering if maybe she thought I was my sister because we get mistaken for each other all the time. But NO, she said my name, and I kind of squinted trying to get my contacts to focus so I could figure out who she was. It didn’t work. I was still lost. I smiled, asked how she was, and went on with my shopping. If you are this woman I sincerely apologize and will blame it on my contacts, or my bad memory.

I think I may be losing my mind. Should I really be forgetting these kinds of things at the ripe old age of 23? It makes my future look pretty grim!

Katie - I TOTALLY feel your pain. Except, I'm like this ALL the time! I can never remember people - names (or even faces sometimes) - and I can't blame it on my vision. People that remember my from high school will say hi and I talk to them and then walk away wondering who it was. Colby makes fun of me for it ALL the time. So - we may be losing our memories - but at least we're not alone. :) And I'm glad you love student teaching too!

The first step is admitting you have a problem... though I'm not sure where to tell you to go from here! You're too funny! :)

I have been so dopey due to cold medicine that I have the same problem. (Or, it could just be old age setting in.)
