This month our YSA ward is in charge of the meetings at an assisted living center near our chapel. Sundays we do a sacrament meeting and Tuesdays we hold a Relief Society meeting. Today I got to go and participate in Relief Society, it was wonderful! There were only about 10 people there, and there were actually as many men as there were women, which I thought was cute (all residents are invited to attend).
The meeting was really short, but really spiritual. There was an elderly gentleman who played the organ/piano for us. We had a opening hymn and prayer, then a special musical number. I gave a 10 minute lesson on self-esteem, and then we closed. The spirit was so strong. They sang with their hearts and all came over to thank us at the end. It was a wonderful experience.
Here is one of my favorite quotes from the lesson:
“Your life has purpose and meaning. You are not here just to fill space, or to be a background character in someone else’s movie. Consider this: nothing would be the same if you did not exist. Every place you have ever been and everyone you have ever spoken to would be different without you. We are all connected, and we are all affected by the decisions and even the existence of those around us.”
