I have always envied morning people. You know those people who can get up at the crack of dawn and get tons of things done before the rest of the world even wakes up. I have always wanted to be a morning person. Don't get me wrong, I am not a night owl at all, I just struggle to get up. No matter how much sleep I get, I still wake up tired. It hasn’t always been like this, I was better before I served a mission, but I think I may have abused my internal clock since then. Now it is time to reset it!
I have been studying ways to become an early bird, and this is the routine that I have decided to follow:
- Set your alarm clock for the same time every day, including weekends. (In my case this is 5:50)
- Put your alarm clock on the other side of the room, and wake up to loud music.
- Before you turn off your alarm clock get up, stretch, and make your bed. This will discourage getting back in.
- Go to bed when you are tired. Your body will tell you when it’s time for bed.
They say that if you stick with it, after a month your body will be adjusted to the new routine. I decided to make the month of June my experimental month. Along with waking up early I am also trying to exercise more frequently and eat healthier.
Today was my first day following the new plan, and it went well. The alarm clock on the other side of the room is key for me. I woke up, read scriptures, spent half an hour on the treadmill and got to work at 8:00. For me, that is pretty good! So one day down, 29 more to go. I will keep you updated on the progress and let you know if it is working!

I read about doing that on some random website once. I really do want to try it, so maybe I'll do that this month too. The only problem I see with this is that I'm tired all day, and then I get a bunch of energy at about 10:30. Then I stay up all night. I don't really have enough self discipline to get up that early. I think I'll give it a try though.
Good Luck. Keep us posted on how it's going.
I admire your determination! If it works out well for you, maybe I'll give it a try after we adjust to our new Ivy schedule.
Egads woman!
*voice of the devil* Enjoy your sleep, enjoy not having to worry about anything too serious, enjoy, indulge, and sleep!
Seriously though that's awesome, and if I were more motivated I'd be giving it a try.
Haha Katie that is a fantastic idea! I should totally try that! That's probably why my mom can get all the housework done before I wake up haha. Hey let me know how your experiment goes! Oh and I posted a new thing on my blog, in case you wanted to know. ;)
