Thanksful Thursday #15

Today I am thankful for something most people my age aren't - Cobblers. No, not the cobbler that you bake and eat (though I am thankful for that as well!) SHOE cobblers.

As a missionary in Brazil I learned to really appreciate these fine people. Even with very nice shoes, the tough cobblestone streets and huge amount of walking wore out even the best of shoes. Since buying new shoes wasn't an option (they didn't make shoes that you could wear for 10-15 miles each day) so I learned to love the cobblers.

I haven't ever had a need to find a cobbler in the U.S.A until recently. Several years ago I bought a pair of high heels. They are lovely. They make me walk a little straighter. They are super comfy. They are my favorite. I love them so much that I walked right through the bottom sole. I thought they were gone for good!

Then my dad found me a number of a nearby shoe cobbler. I didn't know what to expect from an American cobbler, and I was pleasantly surprised. He told me he could fix them quickly, and that it would cost me $5. Totally worth it for my favorite pair of shoes!

Now, they are as good as new. The don't click when I walk, and I can balance on them much better with a sole there.

The best part of taking your shoes to the cobbler - they ALWAYS come back super clean and shiny!

I do love the cobbler and they've saved many a shoe for me. Those shoes are so cute! I'm glad you got them fixed.

where is the after picture??? That's what I want to see :) I'm glad you were able to fix them and that it was so cheap.

HAHAH! I honestly have to say when I read your first sentance, my mouth immediately started watering! Suddenly apple cobbler sounded scrumptious! Glad you got your favorite heels fixed!

Such an awesome thing to be thankful for! They are cute shoes and I'm so glad they're as good as new for you again. I'll have to remember to use cobblers in the future for my shoes needs... if I ever have a nice pair of shoes that shouldn't really just be thrown away anyways... ;)
