Blast from the Past

A few weeks ago I was organizing some things when I came across this:

No, it is not a can of wheat, or potato pearls. It is a time capsule that I made at the age of 10. On time it said that I was suppose to open it on March 14th, 2011. I was shocked that the date was so close! How can time pass so quickly?

The week of the 14th I completely forgot that I was suppose to open it, so I opened it yesterday. This is what it looked like once it was open:

It contained three completely random pictures. This one is a picture of me with my best friend from childhood.

One pink and sparkly rock. Don't ask, because I have no explanation.

Three Werther's original candies. I wonder if I thought these would not exist in the world of 2011. The funny thing is that these are not my favorite candies, and I don't remember them ever being a favorite.

There was also a story that I had written as a 10 year old, a school valentine from the year 1996, and a letter.

Let me share part of the letter with you. It is quite comical.

Dear Katie,

I wrote this letter 15 years ago. I hope you are stronger now and don't think that middle school is scary! I love my teacher, and hope you're not afraid to grow up. I still think boys are yucky & think I'll never be married.

Love, yourself

HAHAHA!!! Oh, this made me laugh! I was quite the character as a 10 year old. I can't believe I am old enough to be opening a time capsule I made! How funny to step back in time for a moment.

I'm impressed that you found/opened it so close to the designated date 15 years later! So fun to see what you held so dear to you little 10 year old heart. :) I really want to see that picture of me that you put in there...
