A Sneak Peek

Several of you have asked me to put up pictures of my new place. I promise, they are coming. However, at the moment it looks like something exploded, so the real pictures will have to wait until it is really done. While it seems (to me anyway) that we have done lots of work, we really haven't. It's in good shape. The two things that I really wanted to have done before I moved in were replacing the carpet, and painting.

The carpet was in sad, sad shape. Most of it was the original carpet that was put in when the house was built in the 90's. It was blue, and worn through. Plus, it didn't match. The carpet in the living room had been replaced and was tan while everywhere else sported blue It only took one evening to get rid of it all!

Then it was on to painting. Most of the house was white and unfriendly. It made it feel like a rental unit. Liz helped me pick out a color (Shaker Beige, neutral without being boring white) and we have been painting ever since. Everyone has been getting in on the action:

Mom

Lacey

Emily & Sandra

Dad did the hardest part, above the stairs. Brave, brave man.

Happy for all the help!

Whoops . . . stepped in a paint pan.
Classy, Kate.

The one person who I don't have a picture of is the one person who has been so, SO helpful! Liz has been a lifesaver throughout this project! She and my mom have been teaching me all sorts of things about fixing up a house! Thanks guys!

Mother nature even gave us a rainbow! So pretty!

Even though it is turning out to be a bigger job than I was expecting, I know that I will be grateful for it in the end! It is already starting to feel more like a home, and my home at that. Plus, it's easier to do it all while the house is empty. I can't wait to see the end product! I will post more detailed photos after it is all done.

It really is a lot of work that has been done so far, and it's looking awesome! I'm glad that it's feeling more like home for you now too. The end is in sight, and soon you will be living in your new (and vastly improved!) home! :)

Congrats on becoming a homeowner. We just bought a home about 6 months ago after waiting for 10 years! Enjoy!
