Happy Independence Day!

Watching the fireworks with Madison (she loves them!)

I love the fourth of July! I love fireworks! Here we have our big firework show on the third of July, so last night I got to enjoy one of my favorite things of the year. The firework show is set to music, which makes it even more beautiful. Our family put blankets out on a church lawn, turned on radios, and watched the show. I wasn’t in the US last year, so I feel like I haven’t been able to enjoy the fourth of July in a while. Last night was such a perfect night for fireworks. There was a warm breeze, and as the fireworks were going off the song “God Bless the USA” was playing. It really touched me and almost made me cry. The lyrics are so beautiful and right on. I think that the more time I spend outside of the USA the more grateful I am for this country. No, it is not perfect, but we are so blessed with so many opportunities here that don't exist in other places.

“And I’m proud to be an American where at least I know I’m free.
And I won’t forget the men who died, who gave that right to me.
And I’d gladly stand up next to you and defend her still today.
‘Cause there ain’t no doubt I love this land, God bless the U.S.A!"
