We took this picture around Valentines Day so we could send it to my little brother, Eric, who is serving an LDS mission. Though it may be a little strange, it is the most recent family picture that I have, and today I wanted to write a little bit about my family.
Over the years I have come to realize how much I love and appreciate my family. While we didn’t get along well when I was younger, my siblings and I are now great friends, and I have learned how incredible my parents really are. Since my Dad is an only child, my grandparents (my dad’s parents) have always been a very big part of our lives. They lived about an hour away when I was growing up, but we still saw them at least once a week, and they were always supporting us in everything we did.
A couple of months ago they decided that they needed some more help, and so the decision was made to buy a new house where we can all live together to give them the help that they needed. While this may seem odd to some, to us it has been in the works for years.
We moved in to our new house about 5 weeks ago, and two weeks later we got my grandparents all moved in. I have loved having them with us and am enjoying spending so much time with them and learning from them. My grandpa has dementia, along with other health problems, and my grandma is always with him helping with whatever he needs. Though he sometimes seems far away, and his health is declining, I love to watch him and my grandma together. They have been married for 60 years, and I can still see that spark between them. They still hold hands everywhere they go. Sometimes I see them sneak a kiss in (seriously, its adorable). We have a big brown couch upstairs that my grandpa has taken to sitting in it and cuddling with grandma. They also share everything. They make a sandwich, and they split it. They order a burger, and they split it. They are the cutest couple!
I have always thought I have the greatest grandparents in the world. I am so, so glad that I have this opportunity to spend even more time with them to notice these cute things. I have been truly blessed with a wonderful family!
